from the INTRODUCTION
Looking askew and askance is a fun habit of mine. I tend to scan visual environments upside down and inside out. I don’t know if I am brain damaged or just a crazy photographer.
But for sure the results can be interesting. The architectural bits and pieces I have pulled together for this collection resist labels, but probably range from something akin to minimalism to something approaching abstraction.
Whatever . . . When you wrench lines and shapes out of their original context, the emphasis shifts to composition. Solids and voids interacting, lights and colors dancing, textures smooth or sandpapery, shadows and tonalities illuminating or obscuring.
There is no hidden meaning. There is only the aesthetic experience.
What you see is what you see.
