NEW Photo Book

256 = the number of tonal variations between pure white & pure black

My first visit to Yellowstone National Park was in 2008. Since then I can’t count the umpty times I have driven through the Arch (“For the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People”), often in the dark before the ticket-takers have climbed out of bed yet.

My photo priority are always apex predators, wolves and bears, and in this collection I have compiled some black and white bear images – family name Ursidae; genus Ursus (‘bear’ in Latin). All but one bear was photographed in YNP.

I am not a commercial photographer. Taking pictures is fun, not a business, and none of my work is for sale.

I do, however, like to gift books and images to good homes.

“You have to think of reality as an aggregate of the perceptions of all creatures. You look at the bear but the bear is looking at you. He isn’t something to just put a fucking collar on, you know?” – Jim Harrison
