What’s your first thought when you see a converted school bus like this? Drugs, hippies, artists?
Curious as to what it looks like inside?
Five people and two maybe three dogs sleep in that bed. And I can tell you from standing close to them that they do not bathe regularly.
She’s cooking a pot of beans on the gas stove on the right. That’s an old wood burning stove on the left.
The guys were very talkative. Told me they were traveling glass blowers from Montana. The girls never said a word and did not look happy.
There’s more than meets the eye here; your guess is as good as mine.

Hard to tell, is it a bad day or a bad idea for a life. There were many similar trekkers coming through Big Sur, touring the land with odd vehicles, high hopes, sometimes stopping for classes or selling things, living off dreams and big ideas. More than once they were not clean spirited wholesome folk but devious, dangerous and up to no good including theft and midnight departures.
But you know what? Short of them engaging in criminal activity or cruelties, God bless them for the silly idea, the risk, the adventure. Being bold enough to try is a way to sift out what works and what don’t in a life. I’m rooting for them going somewhere instead of nowhere, and being virtuous the while.

Well put, Barbara. Far too many go nowhere instead of somewhere, afraid of risk.

Not a bad life for a dog. And with them beans gettin’ passed around, they’ll be in heaven all night!
