This is a not so strange phenomenon (na?) for the winters down here.
These creatures beach themselves for no apparent reason. Naturalists, biologists and book publishers are studying this behavior in hopes that they can understand the causes. Personally I think it’s due to a fairly common behavior pattern — “Severe Coldus Escapious.” I just hope they don’t create a disposal problem should they not be able to return to their native habitats.
A group of concerned bystanders was finally able to hoist them up and float them back out in the water. We all hope they won’t get disoriented again. 🙂
